Flower Feature - Astilbe

Astilbe is a hardy perennial grown for its dramatic, plume-like flowers in shades of pink, red, and white, along with its attractive, glossy foliage. As well as being a stunning cut flower, it grows beautifully in shady and damp areas in the garden in the UK.

I absolutely love to mix up as many textures as possible in floral arrangements. I feel that’s the best way to make them look organic and natural. Astilbe brings a very attractive frothy texture and spire shapes to arrangements. It has a lovely movement too.

Astilbe brings a lovely romantic feel to bridal bouquets when paired with solid materials like roses and eucalyptus. It is most seasonally available in the summer months in the UK, so the stems will be best during this time, but like many things Astilbe is available throughout the year. Unfortunately it wilts fairly easily, particularly in warm weather, so is ideally suited to arragements in water.
